Uniform

Uniform – We ask that you regularly check that all clothing is clearly named, especially jumpers and coats, including their PE kits. The children need a sun hat particularly in hot weather. It is essential they have a coat each day as we like to get the children out at playtime every day, even in light rain!

Homework

Homework – The expectation is the children will read daily at home and work on their times tables. They will have access to Times Table Rock Stars to help with this. Please dojo me if you need login details. We will have a spelling focus and will be expecting the children to use these words within their writing. Sometimes there will be optional topic themed homework tasks set.

PE & Outdoor Learning

P.E – Our class will have PE lessons each week, on a Monday and Wednesday with Mr Westhorpe. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit and has suitable clothes for an outdoor PE lesson – trousers and a jumper.

Forest School – Our Forest school day is on a Tuesday with Miss Gates. Your children will need to come to school prepared for outdoor learning. Trousers, jumpers, waterproof coats and trousers. They will need to bring suitable shoes/ wellies they can change into.  Again, please make sure all their belongings are named.

Food & Drink

Snack at break time – Please can the children bring in their own piece of fruit or a healthy snack for their morning break.

Drinks – Each child will need to bring in a named water bottle to drink water throughout the day. They may have a different drink to have with their lunch if they choose to.

Belongings

Pencil cases- your child is welcome to bring in their own small pencil case, which they are responsible for, it is not however essential as we will provide all necessary equipment. If the pencil cases become a problem, we may ask the children to leave them at home.

Reading

Reading – We will be doing various reading activities throughout the week. Please make sure that the children always have their books with them in their bags at school. Children will continue with their reading record, and it is helpful if you can write in it each time you read with your child, even books read from home. When your child reads at school, will do the same to keep you informed of your child’s progress. However, I need to stress that these books are mainly a home reading book, and we will not always hear them read these books in school. We will have an on-going class text that we will read at the end of every day.
