Travel & Parking

Freshwater & Yarmouth Church of England Primary School encourages and supports the whole school community to travel more actively and sustainably where possible. Studies show that travelling actively can help develop physical and mental well-being, social interaction, independent travel skills and good road sense. This helps ready our children for when they leave Freshwater & Yarmouth Church of England Primary. We work with a range of external providers, such as Sustrans and the Isle of Wight Council, to keep up-to-date with any appropriate schemes or grants that help us deliver this policy.

The school holds Walk to School Days and Bike to School Week.

The school is served by a Southern Vectis Bus that passes the school.

Some children may be eligible for school transport and this is facilitated by the FYT bus. This is an arrangement made by the Local Authority via Home School Transport and there is no requirement for a staff member to accompany the bus.

FYT bus pick up for those eligible children is from Yarmouth car park 8.10am.

Parents are responsible for the safe conduct of their child when they leave the school premises.

Parents who bring and collect children by car can use the main public car park in Moa Place. There is a permit scheme in operation with the council, so parents are able to use the car park free of charge during the below times.

Monday to Friday, term time only! Valid from January 2023 to 21st July 2023

8:15am – 9am and 2:45pm – 3.30pm

8:30am – 9:30am and 2:30pm – 3:15pm

Please ensure that you display your parking permit clearly. Permits are available from the school office.

With the exception of Blue Badge holders there is no parking on the school site for parents. The school car park is reserved for staff.

Please use the parking permit scheme for Moa Place car park and then walk your child to school. Please make sure you display the parking permit and ensure that you stay within the time limits to avoid a parking ticket!
